It's basically just a hare's ear, except I use golden stone dubbing, and I tie it with orange thread. I wrap a pretty thick layer of it up the shank of the hook so that when the fly gets wet, the orange shines through. It really seems to work wonders on the Blacksmith in the spring. This was actually my first time using the golden color, usually I use the standard hare's ear dubbing. I think I'm going to try some other thread and dubbing combinations as well.
