No offense taken. Just joking with you. I've been in Utah for about 8 months now and haven't been back to NYC since. Used to do ALOT of salt water fishing in the Long Island sound. Bluefish and porgies are my favorite. Fast action and an awesome fight from both. Every now and then I would target Fluke and Strippers but there usally isn't a need to. In the fall I would scuba dive on some of my secret spots and spear Black Fish. That was always a load of fun.
I'm from Astoria, Queens about 10 minutes from Manhattan. Fishing out here in UT is totally diferrent. No more anchoring up and Chumming while using chunks of bunker for bait or live eels. No more lobster pots or pulling up to a beach and digging up some clams and mussels for dinner. No more 200+ fish days or unbelievable surface action as blues horde up bait fish fish and charge the schools all day. No more dropping a little piece of worm on the bottom and pulling double headers for hours on end. No more schools of bonito and spanish mackerel rushing into the harbors on occasion and giving you a fight to remember. No more night fishing for weak fish and sea bass. Did I mention I miss it?
IT get's me when I think about it cause I left at a time when the porgy fishery was at it's peak. It even made the news here in UT where there were so many that they were literally jumping in the boat and the weak fish and Strippers were making a major comeback!
I should try to get back this summer I still got my 24' boat out there and all my gear. It would be a refreshiong change to the familliar!
