The bottom line here is , keeping the law is your responcability. The fish cop did nothing wrong. He may not be a great guy but it was still your mistake not his.
That being said, I never hold it against someone for doing their job a little over zealous. We don't know their circumstance. ( i.e.the same cop may have been repremanded previously by his boss for letting something slide) I choose to appreciate the ones who let me slide in similar situations. But again , at the end of the day you were in the wrong , whether by accident, neglect, or just an inoccent mistake. I'm sure the officer has to hear it all day long from everyone (I dought anybody ever thanks him for a ticket and tells him he is doing a great job) He probably has alot of unpopular days.
