Fishing in Laie, Hawaii Q's...
#2
[Smile]I take the family to Laie every other year. We stay a couple of weeks in a beach house in Laie. I found the fishing is not so good around the Laie area. This area ( and North) is known for it's big waves and beaches ( North Shore area). We found the fishing is much better on the SouthWest side of the Island - we usually charter a boat. I did notice people shore fishing with some success about 5 miles South of Laie ( sorry I forgot the small little town, but you'll see the locals fishing as you pass through the small little town on your way to Laie ( I think is called Kamualu?) They were using what looked like squid imitations in blue and pink. There is a local bait and tackle shop in the immediate area. We have caught all kinds of fish from tuna to bill fish, but most fish have been caught on the opposite side of the island.

Have fun ! I can't wait to get back to Hawaii. [Smile]
