I don't understand your reasoning on tire size affecting your MPH, therefore justifying leniency. It was said it is a person's responsibility to know when their license is expired and that 4 days is no excuse. Well then it MUST be a persons responsibility to have their speedo re-calibrated to the tire size on the vehicle and 2 MPH over is no excuse either - Correct?

I agree that the "law is the law" and ultimately we are responsible to follow it. What I think is amazing is that everyone that has said "the law is the law" has not addressed the fact that in the original post, the CO was IN VIOLATION OF THE LAW HIMSELF by not having proper registration decals on his sled. If an officer is going to be SO ANAL that there is no grey area in enforcing the law, they had better be sure that THEY are following the law 100%!!

If "the law is the law", what gives an officer the right to be ABOVE THE LAW? IMO what causes the dislike toward officers more than anything, is their hypocrisy in cases like this.
