[cool][#0000ff]Quite a few white bass being caught already, but mostly by guys fishing for walleyes...using walleye tackle in walleye hangouts. Seems like folks targeting white bass are still not finding many.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The water needs to warm up a bit to get the whities schooling and "dating". That usually happens toward the end of April and through the whole month of May. There will be plenty of "wide open" reports then and you can just about pick your spot.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Right now the best place to look for them is wherever there is some warmer water coming into the lake. Even a couple of degrees warmer is enough to attract white bass.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]One area I can personally recommend is Lincoln Beach. There have been quite a few whities being taken all along both sides of the boat channel dikes. Also a few walleyes. And, the cats will be moving in close to the dikes soon too...especially off the end of the south dike.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If you could float offshore a bit, the shallow cove by the pump house (see attached map) is an early gathering spot for white bass. There are some warm springs that come into the back of this cove and raise the water a few degrees. You can park and walk out on the rocks at the little pump house and fish a couple of feet under a bobber...with worm, jig, etc. The water is very shallow but the whities sometimes get thick in there early in the year. It is where I caught my first whities the last two years.[/#0000ff]
