I am not sure where you mean. Do you mean on top of the supports? On my Fish Cat the arms aren't level they go from the bottom of the seat area up to the point of the "V" on the tube. On the Renegade I could easily put a deck across where the arms are and either have the Battery above or below it if I needed space.
Some problems might arise in understanding which model we mean due to the fact that I have built two different motor mounts for different tubes and TubeDude another one, and now the posts are all kind of interlaced between them all.
For instance this post subject started out talking about my Renegade, but a lot of it has morphed into my Fish Cat motor mount. The pictures on the start here are of the Renegade. My Fish Cat pictures are mostly here:

As for the switch -- yes. I am going for a simple on/off switch that will be by me, and I will change speed ect if I need to by reaching back to the motor. My ancient MInn Kota 25 is not equipped to take a full remote control unit. Plus I really only need the on/off. My fins are the steering and finely tuned speed control most of the time.[laugh]
