Absolutely. I havn't had my big boat in any other waters than Willard and UT lake in 2 years, mostly because of this scare. I'll never take it to Powell again and will most likely sell it altogether for this and other reasons.
Replace it with an Aluminum with a small outboard that can be agressivly cleaned at the carwash and totally dried after each use.
I also take precautions with my Kayaks, being careful to drain all water and pressure wash the hulls outside and in after each use. Most of the time they then sit for at least 5 days in the UT summer heat, bone dry.
My Toon and Tube with their fabric type of covering are noe water specific craft, both relegated to their place in WY, never to leave the Green River drainage again. They often sit for multiple weeks between usage so I know they are dried enough to not transport these vile little creatures.
