I got an email from Lynn Scott who has been guiding up there for BS Flies for many years.
He said:
Some say you can't without disecting and checking sex organs. There are some who say the hybrids have so many spots on the gill plate. Some say you can tell based on what they look like. A true cutt looks like a cutt. I think the Hybrids look and act more like rainbows (kamloops) with a big humpy front shoulders, thick girth. No way for sure unless checking out the parts inside and then sometimes they aren't sure.
With that description from someone who has caught more than any of us could dream about, explains that he agrees with the Hybrid fight.
I guess this is true but the BIG hybrid I caught wasn't so much about the strong fight, but the weight and the 28" Cutt took Shelly a good 15 minutes to land.
