You're in trouble now and it's a long way down that slippery slope of fly fishing addiction!
Sounds like you've got some folks that can get you to the right places and give you guidance on the type of lines and flies that work there.
You might want to browse Cabella's for some good prices on motors, waders, fins, etc. and never underestimate what you might find on craig's list.
When I started, I was advised to simply go out floating the first time and not take the fishing gear just to get used to the tube.
A quick search and it looks like there might be a new club in your area as well as a few others that you can check out to see if they're still active:
