Florocarbon tippet
#2
Sounds like a good time. I got to get out this week as summer and great dry fishing doesn't last forever. Orvis mirage flourocarbon is the only tippet I've used for the last 5 or 6 years. I usually use the 5 and 6x. I also like Orvis mirage leaders when nymphing because I tie a nymph directly on to it skipping the weaker knot with adding tippet. I almost never lose the nymph and have to retie. Normally I'll catch 20-30 fish before the nymph is destroyed or too dull and I replace it. I know you don't lower yourself to nymphing but not all of us can head south for the entire winter like you usually do. So did you get a chance to try out any hoppers on the river up that way?
