Thanks for another helpful post, TD. I have never had any kind of leak on a trip and am overdue! Some of my toons have very slow leaks that take weeks to show significant deflation and don't seem to get any worse, so I just live with it. Do you think the patch-n-go is better that the repair kits supplied with new tubes and toons? I don't know if the glue is even any good after so many years on some of my older toons. I've heard that electrical tape will work the quickest and fairly well on small bladder pinhole punctures because of the pressure holding it in place-never tried it. But what patch holds on the fabric cover with a small, say a 1" rip?
Delay time to cure with aquaseal (even with accelerator) has been one of the reasons I've stayed away from bladderless products. When you need a repair in the middle of nowhere, you need it instantly... Of course, unsually you just don't need repairs on bladderless because of the more rugged material, though. But, repairs on bladderless are exposed to dragging or bumping pressure, especially underneath where most punctures develop. Maybe not a consideration, as aquaseal is pretty tough stuff from my experience.. Maybe there's some kind or vulcanizing "hot" patch that works instantly on bladderless as far as I know....
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Pon
[quote TubeDude][cool][#0000ff]I used some of the special urethane tape that Joni traded for some smoked catfish. We both got a good deal. The urethane tape works great on urethane bladders but did not hold up well on a vinyl toon repair we attempted with it.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]But there is a commercial tape on the market that I have also used with good results. And they claim it works on vinyl, nylon and other materials. Same process...just clean the area with rubbing alcohol patches and put the tape in place. Press it on good between two hard surfaces and you are instantly back on the water. I keep both kinds in my travelling kit on every trip. It can put you back on the water fast and not cut your trip short.[/#0000ff]
