Keep calm. Many of us like bass too. No one used the term "culling" which implies wasting or throwing out an inferior fish. Unfortunately F&G won't go in and use those extras to stock somewhere else.
The point of this discussion is that some places need some moderate harvest to remain a healthy fishery. When 90% of the bass or trout for that matter live their entire lifespan as a 10 incher then there are too many for the amount of forage. Sure they are fun to catch, but so are 12-14inchers.
Panfish and brook trout are prime examples. They reproduce so well that they will over populate a fishery if they aren't harvested by us or predatory fish. The same thing happens sometimes with bass and trout.
On the other side of this discussion are the waters that are very popular and possibly over fished. They need careful regulating of harvest or no harvest to keep a balance.
All we are saying is that each area is different and needs to have different regulations. One size does not fit all!
