I would like to believe that Damon and his crew know what they are talking about and I have no doubts that they have the lake's best interest in mind.
With that being said, I would really like to see the lake open a little later so those of us who fish it almost exclusively through the ice have a chance to fish when the ice is safe. My family I have fished there through the ice since they extended the season and I can count on two fingers the number of fish we have taken home out of the hundreds we have caught. I get a little tired with the slippery slope arguement that some people propogate on this site that keeping the season open is going to decimate the fishery. One year of extreme oxygen depletion would do 100X the damage that all the ice fisherman could think about doing.
Enough ranting.....I hope I have not offended anyone...Just wanted to put in my two cents.
I am going to go out on a limb and say that I honestly don't think it is going to freeze this year due to the current weather pattern, so there may be nothing to worry about anyway!
