Very good article lucabrasi it helps confirm what a problem carp are, now to try and figure out a ecological way to reduce the population as i feel we will never be able to eliminate them. There is no doubt in my mind that it would be/is a costly venture to get rid of them, but if the bear river system is a natural cutthroat habitat then F&G should be willing to support a derby for that area to try to help reduce the carp population even though it may seem like a hopeless cause. If it were to be set up as a "donation taken" to pay for the drop off, transportation, and removal of the dumpsters, and were able to make use of the carcasses be it, fertilizer plants or pig farmers rather than having them dumped in the local landfill I believe F&G would support it as it would not be wasteful and would help reduce the problem costing them little to nothing. I would hope fellow anglers would be happy to participate in such a venture without expecting something other than a restored/better fishery for them to enjoy.[fishin]
