Interesting report. Hadn't seen one from ya in a while, so wondered if you were either having crappie fishing, or superfishing in some secret honey-hole, or wimping it out waiting for hard-water. [:/]

Any worry for those ice sheets shredding through your flotation? Do you just carry your tube in front of you, or wrap up in it when headed to launch? Seen some with a single WHEEL to roll to launch. Ever try one of those?
What you need is an Ice Breaker for your Tube - then NOTHING'd stop ya, except more busted seams...
A big PLOW on the front (or back?) to cut through the ice sheets. Don't know if you could fashion something out of PVC for that, or if you'd need something more sturdy (and heavy!). Alternatively - bring a buddy with a hatchet.
