[cool]If you are going to the Eastern Sierras, you need to take the 395...past 4 corners and up through Independence, Lone Pine and Bishop area. Lake Crowley is on the east side of 395 just past "Tom's Place". It is a great lake for float tubing and fly fishing...but until the temps cool down it may be tough. June Lakes are a little higher, but deep trolling is going to be the best approach there until cool weather too.
Rock creek is usually good for planted rainbows and occasionally has some decent holdovers. All of the waters up there have suffered from the long hot summer, after several years of drought. You might want to check some of the fishing reports from the area.
DO NOT go over the Sierras from Visalia. While there are a couple of passes, in Yosemite Park, you will make it faster, easier and safer by going up 395.
Have you got a chance to throw some line with that bamboo fairy wand yet?
Also, you might try posting this same question on the California Board, if you haven't already. There are a few of the guys over there that hit the Sierras on occasion.
