Yes indeed i'm talking about lack of girth in dink bass ,not those awesome giant puppies 18 inches and up. Here's what I also noticed, NONE of the dink lmb at pine are skinny, just the dink 10 -14 inch smallmouth. Pineview's lmb are heavier bodied than average utah lmb. For example an 18 inch lmb my dad landed weighed 4lbs even at pine. Whereas I've weighed in numerous lmb in years past on the digital scale at utah lake and 18 inches would be just barely over 3lbs. Yes the bass are making a good comeback for sure in Pine. I think they have adapted to the tigers and those who survive tiger predation have now been genetically selected to become more adept to elude and coexist with them. But catch and release of 30lmb in a 3 hour outing isn't likely to happen there. It can easily be the case at mantua. Most are 13 - 16 inches there and are fun to play with. Not a big chance at giants but a lot of fun quick action. I still wouldn't want muskies in mantua to cull them down haha. Just my personal opinion. That's awesome your dad got the 7lber! Tell him congrats for me, that's a respectable lmb anywhere. Did you guys measure it? I'm curious what its length was haha. I've caught many many bass over the years and I can honestly say even I've only landed 3 lmb over 5lbs. One was 5lb 8 oz and 20 3/4 in. Another was an even 5lbs and 20 1/2 inch. The third was a 6lb even monster at 21 1/2 inch. She would have been a few ounces heavier but she took a dump right before I put her on the digital scale after I landed her. Also she had just deposited a fresh batch of eggs on a bed. Over 20 inches is hard to come by anywhere.
