I need some tips please help me out here..

we will be bank fishing due to I really don't want to put my boat in there and sink it!! Because all I have is a fiberglas boat! But we went monday and got skunked bad!! Well my brother caught one ok sized bow.. But my dad and myself were skunked bad!! All I really want to know is what is the best bait to use! And what general area could I possibly find them... I mean I'm sure I could find out myself in time but would greatly apreciate it for some help on this...
