I have read through this thread a couple of times and, no offense, am unsure what you guys want done. Here is a list of issues I have come up with that you all seem to be worked up over, along with a brief reply.
1. The cutt stocking figures posted by the DWR are false.
(why would they lie about it?)
2. There is overharvest. (can this be proven or is it the usual scapegoat anytime someone wants to whine about fishing success?)
3. The stocked fish are too small. (sorry, there is NO WAY that 200X 3 lb fish can be economically raised and planted. However, the 7-8 inchers should do fine.)
4. Concerns about natural reproduction. (I am aware of a project underway to help address this) Have any of you dissatisfied guys helped with that or even given some $$$ to TU to help in such a project?
I don't get up there a lot, but it seems to me that the agencies involved in UT and ID do care about "Big Blue", have good, dedicated biologists and staff working there, and want it to remain a viable fishery indefinitely. I'm sure they DO welcome constructive comments, ideas and help, but vaguely whining about something without a viable solution isn't too productive now is it?
