"Better yet, I need to go cast one cause all these great reviews and the Poster went in a completely different direction...LOL"
I listened to the majority saying to cast a few and decide what fits ya. Yes, the reviews are/were great and yes I wanted a higher end rod but after casting them I did not see all that much of a difference from the more affordable rods out there. Maybe over time the better guides, etc will be an issue but with the Sage and lifetime warranty I figured that if it casts well for me, is light enough for me, and in my dollar range or less then I win. I know that some may feel this rod is a starter but what determines that? I went up from a Martin and a Cortland. I also have an Orvis rod in 8wt that is by no means a high end rod but it casts great for me and it was not a 8-9 hundred dollar rod.
Anyhoo, I like it and now I have a few bones extra to get some more tying material and maybe even a rotory vise that I have been wanting.
Thanks again folks for the reviews and guidance.
