[cool][#0000ff]What kind of fishing do you like? Just about anything you want to try within an hour or two of Fresno.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]There are lots of small lakes along the foothills of the Sierras...From Sacramento to Bakersfield. Some have trout. Many have largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass...as well as crappies, bluegills and catfish. These lakes are all reservoirs, with rivers above and below...and the rivers are usually good fishing too.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If you are a backcountry kind of person, you can go up into the Sierras and pack back into golden trout country out of Cedar Grove. The Kings River drainage has lots of tributaries and lakes with browns, rainbows and goldens...depending upon altitude and management. I have spent many happy days on the trails up there.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Look north to the waters above Merced and Modesto...and South to Bakersfield too. The Kern River above Bakersfield is great for trout...above and below Lake Isabella. And that lake is superb for all the warm water species.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]If you wanna try for catfish and stripers go west to the Delta Mendota Canal...out by Firebaugh...an aquaduct coming out of the bay area. Bring lots of bug repellent.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]If you wanna get into salt water action head for the Oakland or San Francisco areas. Plenty of fishing both inside the bays and outside on the boats.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]But year round you are close to Pine Flat Dam and Millerton Lakes. Both great fishing...most of the time. Now you gotta Saddle up and go get acquainted with them.[/#0000ff]
