Blackfoot River and Reservoir
#30
Don, just about every bit of the information I have given is from the F&G presentation. The presentation was by Dave Teuscher who is the Fisheries Manager in the Southeast Idaho area and has been studying the pelicans for about 10 years or more now. It was very informative, but unfortunately I don't always remember all!!!

I know that one other really large nesting area is in the Minidoka Wildlife Refuge. They will always be there!!!!

I can't remember where the other one was for sure. I think it is smaller. Beyond that --- I just don't remember.

We won't be able to remove all of them, and probably shouldn't try, but I really think it will make a difference in the Southeast area waters and particularly with the spawning cutts, to have the large colonies gone from the lake. In the past when the lake level is low and the spring runoff is low the fish have very little chance to make it up or down the river past the pelicans. There are still cutts that stay in the river, but it would sure be nice to get back to the spawning runs of 4 to 5 thousand fish whose average size is 18 to 20 inches!!![font "Times New Roman,Palatino"][#115a5d][size 3][black][size 4][black][size 5][size 4][black][size 4][size 4][blue][i][size 2][black][size 5][size 5][black][size 3]
