Austin, I don't think you should move! I think your comment is one that many people have and do voice. I love the bass and panfish, and I do like that there are reservoirs and areas in Southeast Idaho where we can catch a variety of those fish. But I am glad that they haven't given up on Blackfoot yet. I don't think they should be in all drainages.
I don't know if BF will ever be quite the fishery it was, mainly because of the huge draw down it experiences every year. There are some good rainbows in there now, but I think it would be better to get a lot of the big cutthroats back. Not just because they are native and do a wild spawn, but because they seem to be more piscavorious than rainbows seem to be. (I'm not sure if that is even a word or spelled correctly!)
It seems to me the big cutts do more to keep the numbers of chubs and carp in check. Keeping the carp in check isn't going to completely happen, but maybe thinned a bit. Carp grow too fast and are too prolific. Unfortunately they out grow the being eaten size much too quickly.
If you have fished Strawberry, think of that kind of fishing or even better. That is what was here and hopefully will return!
