What brand of line do you prefer TD?
[cool][#0000ff]I don't troll and I don't do a lot of deep jigging for large fish...so I do not use braid...ever.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I have been using Silver Thread Excalibur almost exclusively for over 10 years. I keep trying new "wonder lines"...and then wonder why I ever did. I have not found anything that works better for ME than the Excalibur.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I use 4# for ice fishing and for stringing my lighter rods for perch, white bass, crappies etc. I use 6# on my medium lights and even mediums...for walleyes, bass and even light catfishing. I use 8# for my catfish rods. Rarely spool with anything heavier.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]My opinion is that it is super clear, low memory, good knot strength and very abrasion resistant. I always get plenty of hits...low visibility. I get positive hooksets...low stretch. I have never had a fish break a knot and I have never had the line break on a fish...period. That includes landing fish upwards of 30 pounds on 6# line. It also includes landing pike and tiger muskies on 6# line with the lures down inside their mouths...past the teeth...and not using wire.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]The diameters are comparable to other lines in the same strength ratings but Excalibur is tough. I have trouble breaking off on snags when I am in my float tube. In fact, it is almost impossible to break off the 8# line when I hang up while fishing for cats.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Not a miracle line but it works for me...and I know quite a few other Utah anglers who have come to use it and appreciate it.[/#0000ff]
