Put in at the boat ramp right down from Hales Bar Marina around 7am. Fished the area next to boat ramp there with some poppers, crankbaits, and spinnerbaits but no dice. Motored across the way towards the docks across from the ramp-there is a houseboat sinking over there apparently. Continued to fish crankbaits and spinnerbaits hung around here for about 30 minutes. Elvie managed to pull out one bass on a cotton cordell crankbait. Decided it was time for a change of scenery so we motored down to the campground area and stopped to fish a couple of banks on the way. I hooked a bass on a Xcalibur sunfish crankbait but line pulled through. Guess I better work on that knot! Lucky day though the fish took off and left my crankbait floating so at least I managed to save it. We got down to the campground ramp took a comfort room break. There was a lot of boat pressure, people everywhere so we decided to run upstream past Mullins Cove. Fished around in there for a while and Frank managed a 1 lb bass on a spinnerbait. I got another fish hooked on a KVD but it got away. It wasn't my day. We hung around up here trying a variety of different baits, including t-rigged worm, lipless cranks, spinners, poppers, etc.. nothing.. The fish were just not feeling us for some reason. We motored down to Mullins Cove and fished around the old barge for a while and still no luck. By this time the wind had kicked up pretty good so we thought about calling it.. on the way back towards the ramp we ran past Bennett Lake and I thought lets fish that wind blown point may have some luck. Frank tossed his spinnerbait in and immediately bagged a nice looking bass. We thought our luck was changing so we fished up and down both sides of the island there focusing mostly on the wind blown side but that it was all a trick because regardless of bait type we continued to not get any hits. Finally we took back down to the boat ramp and fished the other side of the barges but it was a wash.

All in all a pretty bad day, 4 fish caught and 2 lost, 3 people fishing over the course of 8 hours. I guess we either don't know how to fish, or the fish were holding a grudge. We'll get'em next time though!
