Unlikely fishing holes?

i walk a trail up payson canyon that follows a canal it runs into elk ridge, anyway i always see small trout in it and last year about a mile in i look into a deep hole and i see a dark shadow feeding on dries it was about an 18 inch cutthroat. when i discovered what it was i about pooped my pants. im gonna fish it this year the colors on the cutt where awesome and i got with in 10 feet of him before he spooked
