[cool][#0000ff]Back in the 80's I returned from a VERY successful striper trip to Powell with a buddy. We had kept that day's catch on ice rather than stopping to fillet them. As we approached the valley we hatched a plan.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]After re-launching at the Salt Lake Marina we started out into the lake and put out a couple of trolling rods...going slow. What did we catch? Quite a few sailboaters and others who couldn't resist hooting at us and telling us there were no fish in Salt Lake...to which we would hoist a couple of stripers and keep on keepin' on.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Best actual fishing in a "non-fishing" spot would be in the irrigation canals near my departed uncle's place in Idaho. When they dropped the water out of the canals in the fall I would find a hole with some water left in it and catch a mix of whitefish, suckers and some bodacious cutts...after being told there were no fish left in the canal.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I have found over the years that if you come across a new "crick" or pond it just NEEDS to be fished. Otherwise, you will always wonder....[/#0000ff]
