As a kid I used to fish City Creek both in the canyon and in Memory Grove. We're talking the early to mid 70's.
In memory grove we had a population of browns that were extremely wary, with the very light flows most of the year. couldn't catch them - too spooky, so we learned to fish with our hands; reach under the bank, find fish give a little belly caress then vice grip in the gills with a backhand launch on to the bank, then hide them tucked in our socks, Ranger Rick had no clue what we were up to.
Up the canyon above the water treatment facility we actually used tackle. Spinners were the best method, I can still smell the stream and visualize the colorado blades flickering in the seams, plenty of hatchery rainbows with the occasional cutty. Our best cuttys went to 17"
