Colorados Barr Lake State Park Celebrates National Safe Boating Week
#1
BRIGHTON, Colo. - Barr Lake State Park will celebrate National Safe Boating Week at the boat ramp on Saturday, May 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bring the kids out to the Barr Lake boat ramp for a free iron-on T-shirt, a chance to meet our mascot, Talon, and get a boat ride on the Colorado State Park's Ranger patrol boat starting at 1 p.m. Barr Lake offers 1,950 surface acres of water to boats with motors of 10 horsepower or less. Boating is prohibited south of the buoy line to protect the wildlife refuge.

To prevent the spread of aquatic nuisance species (ANS) including zebra and quagga mussels, all vessels must be inspected prior to launch. Vessels planning to launch outside of posted inspection times must obtain a pre-inspection seal prior to launching. Pre-inspection seals are to be removed by boaters upon launching, and placed in the pre-inspection drop box, located at the boat ramp. Inspection times for May through Sept. 6 are: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays; 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays through Thursdays. On Monday, May 30, Memorial Day, boats will be inspected from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. All live bait must have a receipt from a Colorado bait dealer, dated within seven days of use. Failure to comply with all boating regulations could result in a fine.

The Barr Lake State Park Nature Center is open Sunday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can purchase park passes and registrations at the Nature Center.
