What a difference a day makes - not to mention a knowledgeable, experienced fisher person vs . . . weeeeeaaaaalll.

I had an errand down south on Saturday, so took your suggestion and hit Linden Harbor. With the great directions, and maps, and documents you've shared - I at least felt like I wasn't going in empty handed. First time on a new lake, didn't expect much, but hoped to at least find some busy white-bass.
Welp - there's always hoping anyway! Sure wish I lived closer - that's a purdy dang big body of water there! Busy harbor, but that may be in part that other harbors are flooded. Sure lots of the partay crowd coming and going.

Worked around the harbor for a while, then hit the reeds to the north. Saw some bass-boat anglers, so thought I'd try mimicry. Bait under bobber, pitched plastics, even threw some cranks. Couple bumps, but no hookups. Worked along the shore north, and while bouncing a reaper through the reeds - my bobber went Dive-O. Hooked up one of them nice cookie cutters, but he was a clever one - wrapped himself around some reeds, flipped me the fin, and broke off (I'm blaming the fish THIS time!).
So - just imaging this shot of the Timp with a big fat cat in front. I do!

Got windy, battery running low, gas motor wouldn't fire - time to head for harbor. Some bank-tanglers at the end of the harbor dike seemed amazed at my planer board. Unfortunately the Walleye weren't so impressed!

Tooled the harbor before heading out. Some punk kid was pitching rocks off a dock. Next thing - I hear this 'plunk' against the side of my boat! Good thing he didn't have a better arm or it mighta hit me! I offered to pitch a hook back to him! I was amazed - his dad barely even reprimanded him, nor apologized for his idiot offspring! Hit one of them fancy ski boats and they'd be fists-a-flying! I did hook up a big fat nasty carp, so it's almost like not getting skunked. Beautiful day to be out.

To make myself feel better - I dragged my boy out Sunday to our local stomp, and brought home a half-of-a-half dozen kitties. Tops at 5lbs. Missed about as many hookups. But I got me some weekend fillets in any case!

One question - when are they going to "finish" the road construction?

Maybe before they do I can get your HGS to come down with me and give it another try. Me thinks it calls for a camp over.
