weather patterns
#53
Yes, yes and yes. A cold front blew in from Wyoming yesterday afternoon and the temp dropped from 80 to 65 in less than an hour. This morning I wake up to 32 degrees and frost on my truck. A few days ago I took yet another drive up Cache La Poudre Canyon and took a few pics of the foilage changing colors, 1 1/2 months early. The Trees know. While sitting along the river, I watched a momma bear and her two cubs on the other side of the river, gorging themselves, stocking up on those calories for winter. I'm afraid they won't have enough time to bulk up before the first heavy snows hit and they go into hibernation. What happens when Momma Bear wakes up in January with a raging hunger?

Dove season has been on less than three weeks and I haven't seen the flocks that I saw before these cold fronts moved in. I do believe that they have moved south already. Of course these early frosts don't bother the elk or deer, they enjoy the cold weather, its the two-legged critters that are always complaining about the weather. Amazing, at least to me, that the creatures of the forest and Plains are more knowledgeable about the weather than we are with all our weather satellites and computer models. I even watch the squirrels around my place gathering nuts and other food for the winter, they know something is coming down the Pike. Unfortunately, our so-called "experts" fail to heed the warnings and then act surprised when they're caught with their pants down (no, not Clinton).

I read most of the posts on other subjects and one item keeps making my heart go pitter-patter, all the fathers taking their young one fishing, either son or daughter. I don't know about anyone else but this makes me believe that there just might be a chance that future generations will turn out okay afterall. Those who fish, and enjoy the outdoors, just don't have time to get into trouble, do they?
