Southern California Saltwater
Report for September 20, 2003 (Saturday)
Southern California landings are starting the change-over from Summer to their Winter schedules!
One of the big news stories is that the Premier with 72 anglers got 150 perch among a few other fish. (not sure if they were Catalina blue or Blacksmith)
I'll do a survey of the local landings and let readers know when and what landings/boats will change: 1) Species they are generally fishing for (Winter is shallow-water-rockfish season)and 2) Departure times (3/4's will start at 7am instead of 6am in Winter) which are one hour later than summertime.
Way Up North- Avila Beach and Monterey
Albies caught by anglers out of both Chris's and Virg's!
Up North- Channel Islands
Rockfish and Snappers but not much else.
LA Area- Catalina Island
Lots of different fish caught but no major yellow bite.
Further South- San Clemente
No info sorry.
San Diego- Local and Offshore
Local bite not bad with a good mixed bag. Blue Horizon did good the last time out. And.... Offshore is pretty good with yellows and tuna pelegics.
LA Local
Mostly rockfish but a few bass being caught at the south end of south bay grounds.
