A friend and I hit mantua today with the kids. Got into some big bluegill. Also got into quite a few 14" trout. My boy and I caught grass hoppers and dropped them down with some split shot. The hoppers were way to big for the bluegill to get and the trout loved them. My line question is this. My boy has a small spincast reel. We have been using monofiliment line on it. I was thinking of going with one of those super thin micro baid lines to keep the line thickness down but give it a little extra strength. Does that line work very well in a kids spincast reel? Also, I use the palamar not a lot. Can I use that with that kind of line?
My twin and I saw all the grass hoppers around and when we were drving away one landed on the windsheild and took a ride with us. We both looked at each other and said "hey free bait" in unison. How freaky huh? We cannot catch the bait like that due to our blown out knees from this years ski season.
Way to get some trout. Were you on the big old white boat or that smaller duck boat. Maybe you saw UtahGolf, my twin, and I on that canoe. We were the two spikey haired punk twins one of which had a tye dye shirt on, ring a bell?
What pound test do you use on that reel?
