Soldier Creek...late report
#1
Sorry for the late report, went to S.C. dam on Sunday morning with my daughter and her friends mostly to catch some crawdads. They arrived an hour before light, we arrived just after you could see. They had caught 2 bows about 15-16" and quite a few crawdads on the west side of the dam. Myself, son-in-law and his father went on the east side fished for 4 hours and caught 1 bow at about 14" and had lots of bites that we are pretty sure were crawdads messing with our baits. (we caught 4 that actually hung on to the worm or powerbait.) I have never had that problem before whenever I had fished that side of the lake. Any suggestions on how to keep them little buggers off? We tried everything to keep the bait off the bottom. Floating power bait 18" off did'nt seem to work. Clear bubbles w/water was the best, but still caught em. I tried a few flies behind a clear bubble and several spinner baits early with no bites at all. Very surprised. Overall my Daughters friends caught about 60 "dads" and had a nice lunch before they left. Saw a few bows being caught with p-bait under a bobber north of us, but overall slow fishing from shore. Will try again on the Berry side from my boat in a few weeks.
