Yup - already got yer answer on that one. Some things in life are free.
There's something of a 'campground' along the dike on the south side, but from what I've seen - it seems like a free-for all. Over the 4th there were campers parked along the roadway - all around the boat-launch parking area up to the rope swing, and over on the west side. Pretty much unregulated, no "sites" so much as "spots".
There are normally some porta-potties up there, but the ones by the launch-parking were gone this time. (out for cleaning?) There's no running water I know of - so it's basically rustic camping.
No launch fees at the "ramp" - what there is of it. And be prepared - there's a shooting 'range' at the SE corner - I don't know WHAT they were blowing off - (I think it came from the west side) - but expect a lot of boom-bangs. Sounded like a stick of dynamite as I was packing up. WORD! Shook MY rattle trap!
I thought you and your bro would enjoy that stringer shot - now I'm debating how to prep them pups. Stayed up WAY too late filleting last night. Luck be had - a 'warm' beer batter recipe in my latest In-Fisherman mag. Must be a sign! Actually mixes warm beer and yeast. Hmmm.
Wish (as always) they were bigger, but was glad to get onto the 8" plus class, as opposed to weeding through 6"-minus dinkers.
