Just got back from a spending a couple days hunting in Idaho for deer. I know everyone says they always miss the big one, but on Friday morning I actually did at 317 yards. I figured he had a 28 inch spread with deep forks guessing he would match the one my cousin got last year in the same area that scored 186 BC. I was shooting pretty much straight down off one of the cliffs above the Snake river and shot high both times as my son was watching with binos. He hauled ass and that was the last time we saw him. I ended up taking this smaller buck yesterday afternoon as it would be the last full day I could hunt. He is a 4X4 with eye guards but has his right eye guard busted as well as the end of his left main beam from fighting. His neck was pretty scarred up from battling with another buck, I guess he tnhought he was a real bad ass. The broken tines are less than an in. long but he has two points on the base of his right antler that went an inch. I had my wife hold the tape while I took the pictures of each. I'm hoping they will count to make up for the two tines that were broke from fighting. That's your call. I wish I could have spent some more time in the area looking for another big boy but unfortunately not enough vacation left. I threw a couple other pics from the hunt in as well.
