Hi, C.P.:
How do you use your nylon strap in the renegade?
I don't have a renegade, but a nylon strap has not worked well for me in other boat applications. Since the strap is not stiff, it is difficult to keep my feet at a fixed distance especially when applying a lot of force. When your feet are close together the leg distance is further than when they are spread out, and there is more sag into the water and slippage to contend with compared to a stiff bar. There also seems to be more force trying to bring the pontoon points together under heavy foot pressure, when your feet are close together on the strap. Probably why most foot bars are metal tubes as supplied with the boat, is my guess. But the renegade may be a stiffer boat across the pontoon points compared to others. Just 'saying'....
Hope this helps.
The nylon does work well. I frequently use a nylon strap instead of the foot bar. It is easy to adjust to my length, and if you use a carabiner at one end it is easy to get in and out of.
