The fish seem to be very scattered and in small bunches (1-5 fish or so) and hugging very tight to the bottom, so a fish finder to locate seemed just about useless. It was helpful to know when I had fish down there and to expect a bite, though. I saw most of my fish on the showdown before I caught them. It sure wasn't necessary, however, as both the guys I was with were fishing blind.
Myself and one of the other guys caught most of ours on something moving. The other guy did much better on his dead sticks. The fish also changed during the day. In the morning, I could get them to come 5-6 feet off the bottom to take my bait. In the afternoon and evening, it had to be right in their face.
