I had to laugh at "... the tears started to fall." I expierience the same thing almost every ice fishing trip. I learned to get the hand and toe warmers started on the drive to the lake. If it is a real cold morning like -14, the tent and heater are the first things i get going, then i drill holes and move the tent over the holes. It cuts down on the tears alot. It really helps if they get a fish on the first drop down, it make them forget they are cold for a few more minutes. I love fishing with my little ones, it makes the trips more enjoyable for me.
