Oh it was a good day out on the ice. I finally got to find out why those fish love the pumpkin pepper color so much. A fish puked all over the place and the color was exactly and I mean exactly the same color as the pumpkin pepper jig. No wonder it works so well everywhere I go.
As for the chub....glad to get that one off the bucket list. When it popped out of the hole my 1st words were, "what the hell is that, dude this thing is UGLY". I think I could go my whole life without catching another one of those....unless I need some bait.[

Amazing how it was quiet on the lake near the highway...however when we moved to the island, that ice was singing while fishing next to the 2nd (larger) pressure crack. Nothing like hearing cracks and pops around and under you ...then watching water start bubbling up around the pressure crack. Overall I felt pretty safe on 6-7 inches of ice.
