I am all for the native fish for one main reason. That reason is.... that if we take care of the native fish they don't get marked as endangered or threatened by the feds. It keeps control of our waters on a local level. Once those fish are put on the list we will lose our rights to fish or farm many areas, and we may never get those rights back.
If our cutthroats in the South Fork reach a level that their status in that drainage becomes endangered we may loose all fishing on the river to the Feds. Which is better to keep the cutt numbers up, or turn our river over to the Feds for them to "fix" it for us?
To me it is much better to support the F&G in their efforts to keep our fish from being taken over by non-local controls. They are working very hard to keep that from happening. So on the South Fork .... eat lots of rainbows!
