Hydro power is unmatched for reliability and eficiency. There is other alternatives to damming a waterway to create hydro power there are water mills also a turbine is better than a mill and creates more power with less movement of water. But turbine requires a dam to be built. Although the hydro plants placed on the portneuf are kinda genius as they have no dam they are at the side of the river with a head gate on he cannals that allow water to run though a giant tube buried under ground going down to the power houses. And they are efficient not on the same scale as the brownly or AF dam not even close but they don't block a water way. So I guess is what I'm saying is. There are alternatives to damming a whole water system for hydro power. Just needs a little brain power and some good workers to build it better.. create a damless hydro plant. As water mills are just to unreliable and always break down..
