Fishing Salmon Falls Reservoir
#5
Salmon Falls is a great res but it can be moody. It used to have a breeding population of Kokes, but the water there fluctuates wildly. I don't know of anyone that goes after them. Most guys think that the kokes were just dumped in to feed the Walleye's.
This water draw down could also be the reason the Perch population goes through up's and down's. Last year was maybe not quite as good as the year before but last year was GOOD perch fishing. Perch were running 11 to 14 inches.
There is no way the average Walleye is 6 to 9 pounds. Last year the average I got were in the 19" range maybe 2 or 3 pounds.
Trout were off the chart down there last year. Thick and fat, I caught several that were in the 20 to 24 inch range.
I don't even think about SFCR until the middle or the end of may.
If you search some of my old posts you can read a lot about that place. I get lucky there from time to time. Ron
