Actually, it was a few years ago with a mention here and there

The Gartside version is tied on a small scud shaped or circle hook, but I have always tied them on streamer hooks. I tried the smaller hooks and found fish hit but were only biting the tail end. Letting go/ coming off at the boat.

You can add cone heads as well. I have a step by step tutorial I think I posted in the General FF but maybe it was another forum.

Olive and Brown was my choice at Mantua, when I ran into two boaters catching fish. One was fishing Brown buggers, the other Olive, so I threw out this.

Try a Blood Mohair Denny Rickards with Burnt Orange as well.

As far as the Softhackles, Red and Black at Strawberry as well as Black and Purple. Yellow and Red (Micky Finn) and my favorite, Burnt Orangs and Black.
