Provo morning / Weber afternoon 3/31 with pics
#1
I am just learning to fly fish and have only been out a few times. Yesterday was my most successful trip so far. I fished the lower Provo from 8:00-10:00 and caught two browns around 13 or 14 inches. After 10:00 I thought I would walk back down the river and fish the area I had the most success. I then realized what everyone says about the Provo is true. I found fisherman in every square inch of the river. I decided I better find a new spot so I got out and walked the shore back to my truck. There were a total of eight fisherman between where I enter and here I exited. Must be a popular spot. After tat I drove to the few other spots I know with my limited experience and found all of them were complexly full. I'm not 100% sure about proper fly fishing etiquette but it seems like if I attempted to jump in and start fishing I might be the guy that doesn't realize that there were exactly the right amount of anglers and now there is one too many. I wasn't done fishing yet so I thought I would go for a drive and find a good place to continue my day.

First stop was middle Provo. No place for me to fit in again. Like i said before I dont have ton of places I know yet. So now im in for a drive. Next stop Weber just below the Rockport dam. Waaaay to windy for me.

There was a spot on the Weber I have been and done well and it seemed protected from the wind but it was pretty far. I planned to fish today and decided to make the trip. I finally arrived at my spot around 1:30. After a short hike I found my spot with no one else in sight. I fished or about 2 1/2 hours and caught three beautiful browns. They seemed significantly more colorful than the the two I caught in the Provo. Though maybe not quite as fat. The last fish I caught was the biggest fish that I have caught in a while. I measured it and it was 18 3/4 inches. It was awesome to fight with him for a bit and find out that netting a big brown is much harder than the littler guys. I got good a picture of one from the Provo and the first two fom the Weber. But on the big one I got an ok pic of him in the net but getting him out and trying to take a pic with him in my hand proved to be too much for an inexperienced angler like myself and I got my camera wet and it stopped working.
