At the risk of being called a tool bag or tool shed or something like that I've decided to chime in before NWfisherman develops a cut bait phobia. I have a confession to make........I love to fish with cut bait. Anchovies, sardines, squid, shrimp, shad,...I've done it all. It's become an obsession. I have a small freezer in my garage that I keep filled with bait. Sometimes I sit out there by myself on really windy days and admire it. I keep the bait separated in little plastic bins so it is easy to find and count how many I have left. I even make my own bait. I net extra shad and take them home on ice and make tray bait. Sometimes when my wife is talking to me about something I don't listen to her because I'm thinking about cut bait. Thank you, I feel better now!

Now for some cut bait tips:
* FIND THE FISH- all the fine cut bait in the world is worthless if there are no fish around. The reason why Bass fisherman buy $50,000.00 boats is so they can find the fish.
* Try to keep the cut bait that you are going to put on a hook frozen as long as possible.
*Soak cut bait that you plan to chumm with so it will sink fast and the birds won't get it. I don't mind feeding the ducks but those gulls piss me off when they get my cut bait.
* Listen to Bass fishermen with respect on every subject about fishing except cut bait because they hate it. A very good friend of mine who is an excellent Bass fisherman calls cut bait "sh.." " What do you want to use that sh.. for?" or something like that.
