That's how it fet in mine also when we got it running good. Once we got the speed indicator on the new fish finder hooked up top speed was 40 down on Utah lake and just under that at Deer Creek. That was with a 70 HP Evinrude on a 15' fiberglass tri hull. But it was kind of a heavy boat too.

That could be the case for sure. Mine is 14' pretty barebones rig though, the seats are just carpeted, and there are no extras. Its extremely light. I'll see what i can do though and let ya know. I am coming from a 5hp on a small boat so anything feels like mach 7
