Least productive river?
#10
All good ideas, guys. Thanks. I've got quite a list of tougher waters to work on.

Today, I decided to try a little run-off fishing. Drove up to RockCliff and spent the next 5 1/2 hours having a little casting practice i did miss 18 or so fish- i saw every hit, but with strong currents, i just couldnt control the slack line like i would like, and well...i wanted a challenge... and this time I lost.

I will tell you about 1 hit/attack I had...I had cast my streamer(incidentally all I threw today was streamers) up stream and I'm just ripping the the line back...the fly gets next to a root ball, about 8' upstream of me. At that point I lose the line, just as the great jaws of hell open up and half of the big fish exploded out of the water. It was so close to me that it actually scared me....I never could get that pig to show himself again....but I know where he is for next time!

Not wanting to end the day skunked, I rode on down to below the dam...I have a couple of honey-holes that don't get fished too often, and sure as shit, 1 cast-1 fish landed...the skunk was gone. I goofed off(more casting practice) waiting for the sun to go behind the hills, that's when I started to realize I hadn't eaten, or had anything to drink all day(except a few shots of whiskey from the flask)...so I called it a day.

Adding a pic of the flies I ties up, and used today.
