Snake River Sturgeon 06/03
#1
Thought it would be a good idea to take advantage of the full moon Sunday- so we headed out to the Snake below Strike for some sturgeon.

We were on the water by about 2:30- it was HOT. There was the usual CJ breeze, and that definitely helped out a little.

The water was super low, the usual anchor spots were gravel piles in the river. We beached for a little while with no real success. Water levels rose around 5:00, and it was game time. We got anchored in a good hole, and had our first fish within 10 minutes.

We taped her at the fork to the nose at 6'4". Nice and fat, super healthy.

Fished the same hole for an hour more with a few nibbles but no hookups, then decided to head to another hole.

We had simultaneous bites, and ended up hooking one of them. Measured the exact same, 6'4".

We ended up catching 4 fish out of that hole. I didn't take many more pictures, but both of us were complaining of sore backs haha!

All the fun happend way before dark, which I thought was going to be the prime time to really get into a bunch of fish.

In total, we landed 6, the largest were both 6'4" (which were a lot fatter and better fighters than some of the 7'+ fish we've caught down there). Smallest was probaby around 5'. We had 3 other fish hooked, but they spit the hook on the jump. There were also a few times I thought we were going to have a double, too bad that didn't happen, I'm sure that would have been a circus. We did hook into one fish that fishin4days said felt like a monster, but the fish broke the line on some rocks or something nasty... its almost like it knew where to go [pirate]

Awesome day
